Baseball Battles Wallace-Dothan in Season Opener
Pirate baseball opened the season with a hard-fought contest against Wallace-Dothan, ultimately falling 12–11.
On the mound, Willhide delivered a strong outing, throwing 3.2 scoreless innings to keep CV in the game early. Offensively, Brody Pierce continued his hot start to the season, claiming his second home run of the year. Joel James led the Pirates at the plate, finishing with three hits, including two doubles and a triple.
Despite the late push, the Pirates came up just short in the back-and-forth matchup.
Softball Opens Season with Doubleheader vs. Gadsden State
Lady Pirate softball opened their 2025–26 season with a doubleheader against Gadsden State Community College.
Game One (L, 12–2) saw pitchers Mallory Lyons and Savannah Rourk each face 15 batters in the circle. Offensively, Anna Hillmer went 2-for-3 at the plate, accounting for two of CV’s hits. Hillmer and Courtney Niles scored the Lady Pirates’ only two runs of the game.
In Game Two (L, 8–5), CV showed resilience and competitiveness throughout. Emily Jones threw 6.2 innings, with Emmah Clement closing out the contest in relief. At the plate, Addisyn Mease drove in two RBIs and added a stolen base, helping keep the Lady Pirates within striking distance late.
