Joe Richardson enters his first season with the Chattahoochee Valley Community College Lady Pirates. Richardson returns to the sideline after more than a decade away from the game.

Before CVCC, Richardson was the Interim Men’s Head Basketball Coach at Northwest Florida State, leading the Raiders to a 26-5 record. During that 2010-2011 season, Northwest Florida State held the #1 ranking in the National NJCAA Polls for 9 consecutive weeks and was also the #1 ranked team in the FCCAA Coaches Poll for 12 weeks. Richardson coached 1st Team All American and Panhandle Player of the Year, Carl Hall, during that season.

Before arriving at Northwest Florida State, Richardson enjoyed two successful years as the head women’s basketball coach at Bevill State Community College in Fayette, Alabama. Richardson took over the program in 2007, and in his first year at the helm, Richardson posted the best record in school history with 24 wins and only 6 losses. Richardson followed his record-breaking year with the best start in school history, starting 9-0 and reaching as high as #22 in the NJCAA National Ranks. Richardson produced 6 ALL- Regional XXI players and a combined record of 43-16 in his two-year stint before Bevill State stopped athletics due to budget cuts.

Richardson is a 1997 graduate of Central Coosa High School before playing college ball at Faulkner University. Richardson won an NAIA National Championship in 2001 and is the school's ALL-Time Assist Leader with over 700 career assists.

Richardson graduated from Faulkner University with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems and returned to Faulkner as a Graduate Assistant Coach, earning a master’s degree in Management.
